Based out of West Launceston, Tasmania, we offer a range of opportunites.
If you’re attending for forensic assessment or therapy, our humanity-first approach doesn’t change, and although some parts may be confronting and difficult, we never want you to feel interrogated or less-than.
Our forensic work is professional, careful, and evidence guided. We are acutely aware of the importance, weight, and sometimes delicate nature of your situation. Forensic assessments focus on producing objective, comprehensive reports that are useful to the referrer, the client, and, where relevant, the court.
Firearms suitability assessments sit within our forensic psychology work. The same respectful, evidence-guided approach applies, but the purpose is specific: to provide an independent psychological opinion about your psychological suitability to hold a firearms licence.
These assessments are structured and consider your personal circumstances – every person who needs a suitability assessment comes with a unique reason. A comfortable setting does not mean a casual process. We consider relevant clinical, personal, safety, and contextual factors, and may request supporting information where needed.
The report will reflect the evidence available to us. A favourable opinion is not guaranteed, and we do not make the final decision about your licence – our report assists in Firearms Services in their process. What we provide is a fair assessment process, clear communication, and an independent professional opinion.
Please note: While family court matters fall under forensic psychology, we do not offer family law assessments.
Our assessments are individualised, practical, and written with real-world use in mind. We do not assess people by forcing them through a standard mould and hoping the answer falls out neatly.
Assessment may include diagnostic, cognitive, developmental, academic, and functional questions. This can include autism, ADHD, learning, intellectual, developmental, and support-needs assessments across children, adolescents, and adults. Depending on what is needed, we may use interviews, questionnaires, formal testing, review of existing information, school or workplace input, observations, or other relevant information.
We will explain what we are doing and why. If a child, young person, or adult cannot manage a particular part of the process in the usual way, we will adapt where we can while still keeping the assessment valid and useful.
Our reports aim to be clear, useful, readable and evidence guided. We want people and families to come away with a better understanding of what is going on, what support may be needed, and what practical recommendations might actually help at home, school, work, or in support systems such as the NDIS. Where the answer is complex or uncertain, we will say that clearly rather than pretending things are simpler than they are.
